Last week, the organization of the Gramado Film Festival was in São Paulo, where it announced the Brazilian short films and documentaries selected for the competition, and in Rio de Janeiro, on which occasion it revealed the City of Gramado Trophy tribute to Vera Fischer.
On July 17th, Rosa Helena Volk, Tatiana Ferreira, Stefano Roldo, president, director and events manager of Gramadotur, respectively, and curators Marcos Santuario and Caio Blat were present at the Hotel Laghetto Stillo São Paulo. In addition to the press and directors, the meeting was also attended by actress Bárbara Paz, representing the Brazilian Cinema Academy, and the general director of Canal Brasil, André Saddy. This year, documentaries will be shown exclusively on the channel and Brazilian short films will also be shown on the broadcaster, in addition to the Palácio dos Festivais.
On the 18th, the meeting took place in Rio de Janeiro at the Hotel Vila Galé, where the name of actress Vera Fischer was revealed as the recipient of the Cidade de Gramado trophy.
“I didn’t believe there would be a Gramado Festival this year. When I found out that it was going to happen and that I was going to be honored, I was very happy, very honored, because cinema, in fact, was my first job, my first job was a film. And as I am older than the Gramado Festival itself, it was my pleasure to return there, to have the honor of receiving this honor, and also to make people feel very loved because they are suffering a lot. Things are bad there. So, if we all go there, throw a beautiful party, people will feel happier, more joyful. In fact, tourism can help a little, because there will be people who go there to see the Festival and to enjoy Gramado, which is beautiful. And this can all help a lot in the evolution of this entire tragedy that is happening. We hope it ends soon. And I’m very happy to go there. And I would like Rio Grande do Sul to know that I am a neighbor, right? Santa Catarina, we are neighbors. And it is a great pleasure to be able to go there and receive this honor”, thanked the actress.
In addition to Vera, other actresses and actors were present such as Sophie Charlotte, Nicola Siri and Roney Villela. Actress and former curator of the Gramado Film Festival Dira Paes was also present. This year she participates in the event in a different way, as director of the film “Pasárgada”, selected to compete in the Brazilian feature film exhibition. “I feel very honored to have been one of the seven features that were selected. A film, as we say, is never made alone, right? There is always a team willing to love that project together with you, to dedicate themselves in a visceral way. Because we make cinema with all our guts, with all our desire. We are moved by the desire to create an image, to conquer a scene. For me it is already an honor”, said Dira about the selection. This is her first film directed.
