With over 20 years dedicated to the art of storytelling, Gloria will be honored with the award presented to professionals with distinguished careers in Gaúcho short and medium-length film productions.
The theater and film actress, dancer, and singer Gloria Andrades is this year’s recipient of the Sirmar Antunes Trophy at the 53rd Gramado Film Festival. The award, currently in its third edition, will be presented on August 18 during the award ceremony of the Legislative Assembly Film Prize – Gaúcho Shorts Showcase.
At 68 years old and with more than two decades devoted to the art of storytelling, Gloria has performed in over 55 productions, including plays such as “Ciranda dos Orixás,” “Põe a Charme na Sua Vida,” “Maldição de Vale Negro,” “Defuntos em Séries,” and “A Máquina,” by Zé Adão Barbosa, as well as Teatro Estúdio Extravaganza, with the tribute to Frida Kahlo. She also acted in “Hipólito” and the play “A Líder Crespo.” In film, she appeared in “O Jogo,” by Alex Matos Meirelles; “Marina,” by Vânius Rocha; “Reemissão”; and “Nada Nunca Morre,” in addition to several short films such as “Fábula,” “Dos Porongos,” “10 Segundos,” and “Avental de Rosa.”
“My journey began more than two decades ago with the decentralization of culture, where I immersed myself in various experiences that enriched my formation,” the artist emphasizes. In the work of the “Theatre of the Oppressed,” she was part of the Tumulto Group, directed by Ivanete Pereira. She also worked with improvisational techniques and other stage languages. “Each role represents a new discovery for me, an opportunity to connect emotions and provoke reflections. I remain committed to the passion for art and the constant pursuit of excellence in my career,” said the artist honored with the 2025 Sirmar Antunes Trophy.
Gloria’s selection to receive the Sirmar Antunes Trophy is a recommendation by the technical committee of the Prize, composed of professionals from the Film Critics Association of Rio Grande do Sul, the Association of Technical Film Professionals, the Cinema Foundation of RS, the State Institute of Cinema, and the Audiovisual Industry Union of Rio Grande do Sul.
About the Sirmar Antunes Trophy
The Sirmar Antunes Trophy was established by the Legislative Assembly in 2022 and is intended to honor professionals with distinguished careers in Gaúcho short and medium-length film productions. The Trophy is part of the Legislative Assembly Gaúcho Cinema Prize, as provided by Resolution No. 2,902 of March 18, 2004. The award has previously been given to actress Vera Lopes (2023) and actor Álvaro Rosa Costa (2024).
Legislative Assembly Film Prize – Gaúcho Shorts Showcase 2025
The technical committee of the Legislative Assembly Prize, in addition to nominating the honoree of the Sirmar Antunes Trophy, completed the review of the submitted films. The announcement of the selected shorts for the Gaúcho Shorts Showcase at the Gramado Film Festival, competing for the Prize in 12 categories, will be made at a press conference on July 8 at 11 a.m. at the Hotel Laghetto Stilo Borges, in Gramado.
The Gramado Film Festival – the oldest uninterrupted film festival in Brazil and part of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of Rio Grande do Sul – takes place from August 13 to 23 in the Serra Gaúcha, with the official opening on the 15th. It is organized by Gramadotur – Municipal Authority of Tourism and Culture.
