The short film Esclerosada Não é a Vó will be shown in a special session, on August 16th, at 11am, at Palácio dos Festivals. The production is carried out by the NGO Vivendo Além da Esclerose and Filmes de Junho Produtora, with co-production by Finish Produtora and Salas Filmes and cultural support from Novartis and AME – Associação Amigos Múltiplos pela Esclerose.
Based on the voices of four women, the work addresses not only multiple sclerosis (MS), but also issues of gender, relationships, motherhood and inclusion. These women share their experiences to offer a unique perspective on their lives beyond medical diagnosis. The documentary is an instrument of awareness and mobilization. The production portrays Aline, Bruna, Erenice and Marcia, who reveal – as patients or as family caregivers – their daily lives when dealing with chronic conditions. And all this in the role of a woman in a sexist, misogynistic, racist and ableist society.
The documentary features full accessibility: Libras, LSE and Audio Description at the same time. This characteristic is one of the production’s differences and a special experience for those who watch the film.
Sclerosada Não é a Vó received the Golden Swan for Best Documentary at the Santo Ângelo (RS) Short Film Festival and participated in the Special Category at the Guarnicê Festival, in Maranhão. The film has also had its first international screening during the 8th Festival Nicaraguense de Cine y Audiovisuales and in Greece, at the International Festival Reflection of Disability in Art.
